Bill Monroe, the "Father of Bluegrass Music" was born on Jerusalem Ridge outside of Rosine. You'll almost hear his high tones calling as you take a captivating tour of the restored Monroe Family Homeplace and visit the family gravesites. This year, we will commemorate what would have been Bill Monroe’s 100th Birthday. Various events are scheduled in Ohio County throughout the year and special events will take place in Rosine beginning September 10, 2011 with costumed guided tours and concluding with a Birthday Celebration on September 13, 2011 with cake and music at the Homeplace. Between September 26th - October 2nd, you can attend the annual Jerusalem Ridge Festival at the homeplace. If those dates do not fit in your schedule, you can tap your toes at the lively Friday night Rosine Barn Jamboree or tour the county by following the Mandolin Trail. Whether you come to visit one of our museums, hunt antiques or attend a festival you'll find Ohio County means friendly people, pleasant accommodations, and a musical story unique in all the world.
